Global Leader! 2+2 LNG Bunkering Vessels! This Guangzhou Shipyard Receives Order
Recently, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company Limited (HPWS), a subsidiary of CSSC, and China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC) successfully signed a contract with Singapore's Singfar Group in Guangzhou for the construction of2+2 20,000 cubic meter LNG bunkering vessels。
This contract is one of the largest LNG bunkering vessel orders ever received by a Chinese shipyard. The first two vessels have secured long-term charters from well-known oil and gas companies, fully demonstrating the market's high recognition and confidence in this type of vessel. It is expected to become an important benchmark in the green shipping market in the future.
The 20,000 cubic meter LNG bunkering vessel signed this time was designed by CSSC Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute. It integrates the world's most advanced LNG bunkering technology, ensuring environmental protection, safety, and efficiency. It fully complies with the latest standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and meets the stringent requirements of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) for system operability and redundancy. This standard is widely regarded as the most mature and stringent regulatory system in the global LNG bunkering market.
Innovative Propulsion and Control System – Enhanced Operational Flexibility
– The adoption of a dynamic positioning full electric propulsion system (DFDE), combined with two bow thrusters, greatly enhances the flexibility of port berthing and ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering operations, enabling self-unmooring, self-berthing, in-situ turning, and lateral movement.
– This design fully complies with the stringent requirements of the Singapore MPA for the maneuverability and equipment configuration of LNG bunkering vessels, enabling efficient operation in major LNG refueling ports worldwide.
Advanced Cargo System – Efficient, Safe, and Low Boil-off Rate
– Equipped with two 10,000 cubic meter C-type cargo tanks, it has a -165°C ultra-low temperature LNG storage capacity, suitable for different LNG bunkering modes.
– Optimized cargoinsulation systemCompared with vessels of the same size on the market, it has a lower boil-off rate, reducing LNG loss and operating costs.
– The cargo area is equipped with three cargo manifolds, two hose reels, and multiple fenders, enhancing the flexibility, safety, and compatibility of LNG bunkering operations.
Intelligent Control and Safety Management – Ensuring Efficient Operation
– The latest intelligent monitoring and automation management system is adopted, supporting remote operation, improving bunkering efficiency and enhancing ship safety.
– Equipped with GCU (gas combustion unit) and SUB-COOLER (deep cold equipment), it enhances cargo tank pressure control and boil-off gas (BOG) management, improving bunkering stability.
– Each cargo tank is equipped with two variable frequency deep-well pumps to optimize the LNG bunkering rate and improve operational reliability.
Green and Environmental Protection and Low-Carbon Emissions – Meeting Future Shipping Standards
– The LNG dual-fuel electric propulsion system (DFDE) is adopted, which can fully utilize BOG (boil-off gas) as fuel, improving energy utilization efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and pollutant emissions.
– The main generator meets NOx emission Tier III requirements in fuel mode, and the shore power system configuration can further reduce carbon emissions and noise pollution, improving the environmental performance of port berthing.
– The application of variable frequency drive equipment, combined with an energy efficiency monitoring system, optimizes the overall energy efficiency of the vessel and improves the energy saving and emission reduction level of bunkering operations.
Strong Bunkering Capacity – Adapting to Multi-terminal LNG Supply Demand
– It has multiple LNG fuel supply modes, including ship-to-port, ship-to-ship, and ship-to-LNG tanker, which can meet the LNG supply needs of different terminals.
– The design of three cargo manifolds is compatible with more LNG-fueled vessel types and adapts to mainstream LNG terminals worldwide, enhancing operational flexibility and market adaptability.
Since its establishment, Singfar Group has always adhered to a sustainable development strategy, committed to building a green, environmentally friendly, and sustainable logistics and trading platform. This cooperation withHuangpu Wenchongmarks Singfar Group's official entry into the LNG bunkering market and provides reliable LNG bunkering solutions for more shipowners and energy companies worldwide. This LNG bunkering vessel project is not only a significant milestone for Singfar Group's clean energy fleet but also demonstrates its industry leadership in multi-fuel future shipping solutions such as LNG, LPG, and ammonia fuel.
According to statistics,Huangpu Wenchong currently has orders for 16 gas carriers(including 60,000 cubic meter dual-fuel LPG/NH₃ carriers, 48,000 cubic meter LPG/NH₃ carriers, 41,000 cubic meter dual-fuel LPG/NH₃ carriers, 25,000 cubic meter dual-fuel LPG/NH₃ carriers, and 20,000 cubic meter LNG bunkering vessels).
With the global shipping industry transitioning to low-carbon and multi-fuel options, the successful construction and operation of this type of vessel will provide more advanced LNG bunkering solutions for shipowners and charterers, laying a solid foundation for subsequent orders and market promotion.
