The first domestically developed new large LNG carrier in our country has been delivered.

On November 25, the first domestically developed new large LNG (liquefied natural gas) transport vessel was delivered to foreign users in Shanghai. This type of ship uses an internationally advanced new cargo hold system, filling a gap in China's shipbuilding industry for this type of vessel.

The newly delivered large LNG transport vessel was designed and built by China Shipbuilding Jiangnan Shipyard. It employs the latest third-generation membrane containment system for storing liquefied natural gas. Compared to previous designs, the thickness of the insulation and shielding layers that isolate the liquefied natural gas from external contact in the cargo hold has been reduced from 530 mm to 400 mm, allowing the same-sized LNG transport vessel to carry more cargo. Additionally, the ship reduces cargo evaporation losses during transport and features high safety, energy efficiency, and environmental protection, reaching an internationally advanced level.

According to reports, this delivery breaks the previous monopoly of foreign shipbuilding companies in the construction of this type of LNG vessel, enhancing the market position of China's shipbuilding industry in high-tech, high-value-added vessels.
Song Bowen, the chief construction engineer of the large LNG transport vessel at China Shipbuilding Jiangnan Shipyard: This ship represents a breakthrough for China in this field. With the successful construction of this vessel, China's cooperation in energy transport and marine equipment will become closer. Currently, there are a total of 8 orders for this type of ship, and subsequent product optimization and iteration will gradually enhance and introduce more efficient and leading products.
